Dr Nikki Moreland is a Senior Lecturer in Immunology in the Medical Faculty at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and a current National Heart Foundation Senior Research Fellow. Nikki has a PhD from the University of Auckland and undertook post-doctoral training in cell biology (Glasgow), protein biochemistry (Auckland) and infectious disease (Duke-NUS, Singapore). She has been an associate investigator of the Maurice Wilkins Centre since 2012 and is a member of the Trans-Tasman Coalition to Advance New Vaccines for Group A Streptococcus (CANVAS). Nikki has research expertise in humoral immunology and her laboratory uses a range of approaches to study antibody-antigen interactions including antibody phage display, flow cytometry, high-content protein arrays and biophysical techniques. Her current research is focused on the linked goals of understanding the pathogenesis of rheumatic fever to develop safe and effective vaccines for Group A Streptococcus.
